New Summer Brights and Mermaid Restock- August 2016 Update

Summer is in full swing here in Northern NY, but of course will quickly come to an end in about a month. Before we head into darker and warmer colors of autumn, I had to get one last blast of bright colors. Blues, purples and hot pinks are on the menu.

Some new gradients were listed in the VFA webstore tonight.
Many are temporarily sold out, but you can join the waitlist and get in on the next batches.

The first is Laguna. This is a bright turquoise to cobalt gradient that looks like a hidden tropical cove…

It’s 80s Night! Get out your jelly bracelets and legwarmers. Put on the torn off the shoulder sweatshirt. Hot pink graduates to ultraviolet.

Mermaids are real! We did a massive restock on this popular colorway for 2016. Zippy chartreuse graduates to a clear bright turquoise.

Pure Blue is a single hue blue gradient that goes from light ice blue to royal blue.

And Pure Purple is a single hue gradient that goes from light lavender to deep regal purple.

Four big developments on the website:

1. We have product filtering! You can now filter the store by what’s “Available Now”, by a certain colorway name, by product etc. The filters sit on the right side of the screen on a desktop or tablet display. If you are on a phone, you have to scroll to the bottom of the page to see the filters.

2. More yardage on Lux! We are moving to a slightly lighter version of the same Tencel we have been using for Lux. It is the same yarn, only it now gives you 693y/150g vs the former 585y/150g. The XL now comes in at over 1000 yards!

3. We have 3 new Lux fingering weight base yarns. A higher twist version of Tencel, new Bamboo Floss, and 100% Cotton. Go read about the new base yarns . Samples are available.

4. We have 4 new Lux Lace base yarns! There are a very limited number of laceweight skeins for this update. Join the waitlist if your desired base is sold out. We will likely be making more once we get an idea of what demand will be for this weight. Samples are available.

Convenient end yardage miniskeins are available on both end of each colorway, in each different base yarn, so you can customize your yardage to your project. So look through your Ravelry queue and start scheming away.

Visit the Vivid Fiber Arts Store now for current stock and to join the waitlist for the colors that you might have missed out on.

All orders over $40 ship for free within the US.

If for some reason we are sold out by the time you get a chance to shop, please join the waitlist. Read here to find out more about how the waitlists work. If there’s enough interest in a certain colorway or base yarn, I will make some more as soon as possible. Please note the shop will be closed from August 17-September 5 for a “pre-busy season” break.

See you soon!

Amy

Base Yarn Descriptions

Lux is our line of fingering weight gradients (150g) on plant-based yarns. Lux XL is the extra long version (225g). Big picture: All these yarns are very soft, all take dye brilliantly. Tencel®, and High Twist Tencel® dye up pretty much identically, the only difference is the twist. Bamboo Floss takes dye just as well, but has […]

Color, photography, and monitors.

We’ve all had it happen. We order something online.  We excitedly wait with anticipation. It arrives…  and it’s not the color we expected it would be. Sometimes it’s just a happy accident, and it’s not a big deal. Sometimes it is a disappointment. When we are disappointed with the color of yarn we ordered online, […]

How does the waitlist work?

*Please note we no longer do “shop updates” in any form. We have transitioned to a 100% waitlist batch ordering system* Wondering what the “waitlist” is all about? Big picture: You want something, but it’s sold out or in preview mode? You can click on “Join the waitlist”, and your username will be added to […]

Greydients Are Here!

March is still looking a whole lot like February here in northern New York; as grey as ever. However, after growing up in the Northeast, and living up here for so long, I’ve come to appreciate, even love, the color grey. This month’s update is a series of gradients on our wonderful 100% tencel fingering […]
