I thought it might be helpful to keep a running update on what we’re working on each week so we can keep you in the loop.
This will give you an idea of what’s available for waitlist, open for orders, and what we will be dyeing next.
I’m going to try to keep this updated weekly. I usually update the “Announcements” post in the VFA Ravelry group as well.

We work on a variable 6-8 week cycle depending on the season.
Right now this is what we’re working on:
Weekly update 4/18/18
CURRENT SHIPPING GUIDANCE: Due to extremely high order volume, please allow 4 weeks for shipping. We apologize for the delay. If this timeline doesn’t work for you, it’s not a problem at all to cancel your order anytime up until it ships. We are working as quickly as possible to elimate any backlog.

- Pure Purple XL High Twist (we have Tencel available)
- Advent 150g High Twist (we have Tencel available)
- Advent XL 225g High Twist (we have Tencel Available)
- Birdsong XL Tencel and High Twist (we have 150gs in Tencel and High Twist with all end yardage available)
- A few grey gradients (Blue Steel, Geode, Moraine, Upstate Grey)150g in High Twist (we have Tencel available)
Backorders: How do they work? When I ship something from an order, I have two systems that I work with: the website that takes the orders (what you see), and then my order mgmt/shipping software which imports the order and helps me ship it (you don’t see that part). When I ship something, my shipping software sends a message to the website to write back a shipping tracking number an send you an email. It then tells the website to mark the order “complete”. The backorder usually doesn’t show under “my orders” unless it was a separate order when you ordered it. However, I keep track of what’s been sent and what hasn’t in my shipping software. And I manually correct the packing slip to let you know what’s pending. If you ever are unsure about a backorder, just let me know and I“ll look it up to verify it. But don’t be nervous if your order says “complete” and you have a backorder pending noted on your packing slip.
“How long is the backorder for ____?”
Awesome answer: it depends what it is, but hopefully not that much longer. I’m working on getting a big batch of Birdsong XLs done this week bc that batch is holding up quite a few orders and backorders. The other big thing is a whole bunch of High Twist skeins.
“Something is backordered. What are my choices?”
I can do several things for you:
- Ship what’s available (if you ordered multiple things) and ship the rest when it’s ready to rock (no additional charge)
- Give you a rough ETA and hold your order till everything’s done
- Ship what’s available and cancel whatever’s backordered and issue a refund.
- Cancel the whole order and issue a refund.
And yes, if you choose something, you can change your mind, just let me know.
“Is it too late to change my ___ order to ___?”
No. It’s never too late. If something has already shipped, you might have to send it back to me for an exchange, but I will get you what you want one way or the other. As long as you let me know within 30 days of receipt that you want to switch something out, I will absolutely do that for you.
“Is it too late to add end yardage?”
No, BUT you have to understand that I might have to dye a whole new set for you in order for it to match up really well, and that will take more time.
“I got my yarn and I love it. Can I order another for my sister/friend/mom!?”
YES. I will be re-opening orders for the same colorways, but I’m not going to do that until I’m totally caught up.
“I’m getting an error on the website today. What is it?”
John is updating some plugins and the VFA website is offline intermittently. Some new features and products are being added that I think you will like.
“Customs is so expensive. Can you mark my order “gift”?“
No, because this is breaking the law and any company that agrees to do this for you is being shady.
BUT you might want to consider breaking up a large shipment into several smaller shipments to fall under the customs radar. Sometimes the additional shipping cost is way less than what customs is going to charge you. If you put in several orders separately intentionally for that reason, just make sure you put it in the notes bc we usually combine shipping and refund you the difference.
THIS WEEK: The lovely ice storm we had is (mostly) over, but I am still seeing delays on packages that are going through Canadian customs in Ontario. Packages going to other parts of the US through our Northeast regional USPS depot in Springfield, MA appear unaffected, but check your tracking.

Another Note: If you have been logging in with Facebook, this might not work for a few weeks. FB is updating their API to improve privacy (very necessary) and our Social Login plugin which interfaces with the FB API might not work while they’re messing with it. You may get weird “warnings” or authentication errors; do not be scared.
Please note that we do not keep or use your social login information, or personal details in any way. We do not believe in creepy data advertising stuff (we don’t even advertise anywhere yet). The Social Login plugin is just a link (which we do not control) and may require name, email or details in order for it to do its thing. It is simply there for your convenience, and you can discontinue using it at any time. If you need a new password or have any difficulties with logins, please email us through the contact form and John will help you.
I am leaving the shop open for orders for end yardage, but a lot of individual listings are going to be closed temporarily whileI work on what’s here this next week.

We also are working on several new colorways to mix in with these returning favorites.
They will be announced when they are available for waitlist.
RETURNS/EXCHANGES: We have a 30 day return/exchange policy. If you’re pink was too pink, your red wasn’t red enough, your blue was too purple, your purple wasn’t purple enough, your red was too red- whatever the reason just shoot me an email via the contact page, and we’ll either get you something else more to your liking or arrange for a return/refund. Due to the extremely generous nature of this policy, we adhere strictly to 30 days from delivery date. After that point, please feel free to take advantage of the VFA Ravelry group “ISO/Destash” thread.
